Weekend Post #1

With the weather last week in Lebanon being not so helpful for a Fashion Blogger, i.e. I couldn’t take any outfit posts, I have decided to share of couple of things I have enjoyed during this amazing stay-at-home time.

Since I am always in a hurry, running from one place to another, I found it difficult to enjoy the simplest things in life. One of them being my love for Reading. How can a person, who read more than 4 books a month, suddenly become a person who can barely manage to finish a single book in 2-3 months. It’s shameful, I know, but somehow with work and the blog (and a couple of Series I am obsessed with) I fell out of Reading. This is something I am trying to change, and hopefully this year I can get back on track, with at least 12 books per year, one book per month, which I think is a very reasonable solution. So, staying at home lately, made me want to read more and to finally cross some books from my never-ending To-Read books.

On top of my list have always been a couple of books by MURAKAMI, a well known Japanese writer. I have heard a lot about his style of writing and his amazing books, but somehow never picked a book. The first book I have decided to tackle was the infamous 1Q84 novel.

This book is a fiction trilogy that grasps you from the beginning. Although, I have read a lot of books in my life, this book is completely different from anything else I have encountered. Murakami, has an amazing descriptive talent, that makes everything he writes about very believable and close to heart. His characters are people who at first seem like very typical and ordinary, but as the story untwists, turn into remarkable beings ready to save the world.

I don’t want to spoil the book to anyone, but if you are into Parallel Worlds, Religious Cults, Mysteries and so much more, you are in for a treat.

I haven’t finished the book yet, I think it is close to 1500 pages, but I have been reading it eagerly for 2 weeks now and I can’t wait to finish it all.

What books are you currently reading? and have you ever read anything by Haruki Murakami?

  1. My exact thoughts! Reading 12 books is also on my list of things to do this year 🙂 (Although this weekend I ended up watching some shows instead of reading… woops!)
