My EVERYDAY Makeup Tutorial {video}

post 1

I am a total makeup-lovin’ person and I am PROUD of it. I may have a slight obsession in collecting a huge amount of makeup products, but this is just who I am; a person who loves Choices. I can never be that person who can use only one blush at a time or has one shade of a red lipstick. It’s excessive, I know, but it’s what I like and I am not ashamed to say it.

Although I try a lot of different products, I can positively say which are the ones I use the most by looking inside my daily makeup bag. For most of the days, when I am doing my makeup in the morning, I tend to use my most trusted products and thus making them simply must-haves.

Check this video below, which I filmed for my Youtube channel to find all my favorite products at the moment and to see them in action. This look has been my Go-To makeup at the moment, so let me know what you think of this look and which products could be found in your daily routine?

How to Apply the Perfect RED Lip

For me Fall === Red Lips, no doubt in that. I just love the contrast between the paler skin in the fall days and the vivid color of the bolder lips. As much as I love my pinks and corals during Spring and Summer times, I always get excited for the colder weather, because know it is the perfect time to get my Reds and Purples from the hiding.

The only problem with the Bolder Lip color is the application phase for me. If the lighter shades during the Summer could be applied with a dab of color directly from the lipstick bullet, the Bolder colors can sometimes be more picky. But, thankfully after years of trial and error I can now apply the Reds with a strong hand and be positive that it would last me for many hours without any touch-ups.

2The things you would need for the perfect Red-Lip are:

1. LIPLINER :: Preferably in the same tonality as the bold color you are planning to apply, or you could use a universal transparent lipliner like I do sometimes. With the help of the lipliner you could easily draw the borders of your lips to be later filled with the lipstick. The lipliner used is the Wonder Colour LipLiner from Oriflame in the shade Real Red.

2. LIPSTICK + LIP BRUSH :: for a neat application , I like applying my red lipstick with the help of  a lip brush. Although it takes a longer time to achieve the intensity of the color, believe me it is worth the fuss. After applying the first layer of the lip color, I suggest using a tissue and mattifying the lipstick before applying the second layer. I repeat this technique 3 times before my final coat of the lipstick and you get the most long-lasting effect for your bold lip.  I used the MAC red lipstick in TRUE LOVE’S KISS from the Maleficent collection and a C&F lip brush.

Makeup and Skincare is a real trial and error situation. You can never be sure that an exact product would work on you as much as it worked for your best friend.

And although in makeup the trial is pretty straight forward, you can always swatch the particular shade you like and decide if it is the one you need. But, with Skincare this isn’t true. Not a single product could show its true color unless you’ve tried and tested it for at least a week. When you are shopping for skincare abroad, almost all the brands offer the “Sample” element before purchase, or at least sell a “Mini” size of the same products, thus allowing you to try it before making an investment.

Alas, in Lebanon it is almost impossible to get any kind-of samples from any brand, and this matter is a frustrating one, since skincare is a total investment in my opinion. Not just money wise, but finding the products that  would really work for you is time consuming, too.

KIEHL’S skincare brand offers exactly what was missing in our market, they allow their customers to try almost everything from their different ranges before actually buying the products. When you visit their newly opened stand in ABC Ashrafieh, you would be welcomed by amazing specialists that take their time in explaining all about their various products and deciding what products would best work for you. After that they give you the samples to try at home and come back after the trial to get the products that really did magic to your skin.

From Skincare to HairCare to even Men Skincare, KIEHL’S is a place to visit.

Beauty Lady :: Brushes on a Budget

Any beauty lovers out there, or just normal people who love their makeup know the importance of having good quality brushes for doing a very professional makeup. As much as the product you are using is high quality and cost you a lot of money, if you used it with bad brushes that gorgeous product wouldn’t be applied as smoothly as it should and you could somehow ruin  the intended effect.
My fist encounter with good quality brushes was when I got my 217 MAC blending brush, and boy how that changed my eyeshadow application. It made applying and doing smokey-eyed makeup a piece of cake, and from there on, I really understood the importance of investing in Makeup Brushes. But alas, those brushes cost a lot, and by a lot I mean REALLY a lot. The MAC brushes keep on rising in price every year, so the same brush that I got for like 50,000 LL , now costs 61,000 LL in stores, so you could imagine why I’ve started my long search for some budget friendly alternatives that my wallet would love.

For my happiness, the answers to my calling was right next door, in Spinneys in particular. As I was doing my regular groceries’ shopping, I stumbled upon a BEAUTY LADY stand and decided to try one of their brushes, since they looked pretty decent through the packaging and the price wasn’t that much, so I won’t regret the buy. From the moment I used that  bush Brush I was hooked and I knew I wanted more, and so I have started collecting the brushes one by one and now I have 6 of them and I couldn’t be any happier. I love how soft the bristles are and how good the application of powdery products is with them. Although some of them are not in my top 5 brushes to have, their are still very impressive for the price. The Beauty Lady brushes range from 6,000LL to 20,000 LL and could be found in most Supermarkets in Lebanon.

I highly recommend you try these brushes, whether you are on a budget or just looking for new brushes to try, since they are one of the best I have tried and even get better when washed.

The Beauty Lady brushes that I have in my arsenal are from bottom to the top::

1. B106 :: Big Powder Brush, which I use mainly for bronzing all-over the face, and is perfect for powdering

2. B105 :: Angled Contouring Brush, which is perfect for light contouring and applying precise bronzing lines

3. B104 :: Blush Brush, one of my first Beauty Lady brushes, it is perfect for applying powder bushes and highlighter on top of your cheekbones

4. B118 :: Smudging eyeshadow Brush, which is my least favorite brush of all  since it is very stiff for smudging and I have still not found the perfect use for it.

5. B117 :: Medium Eyeshadow Brush, perfect for base eyeshadows

6. B114 :: Angled Eyshadow Brush, although it is stated as an eyeshadow brush, I have found the perfect use for it. I use it for blending out my concealer under the eyes. It is fluffy enough to blend, but stiff enough to give good coverage with the application. This has to be one of Holy-Grail Makeup products that I can’t live without.

Let me know in the comments below if you have ever tried these brushes or if you know any other budget friendly Brands that I could check out.

Master Class with Lancome

I am writing this post with a full-on smiley face, since I am so happy to finally reveal that i had the Privilege to attend a MASTER_CLASS from the head makeup artist of Lancome in Lebanon. 😀

When I got the email for the invite I was super excited since Lancome has always been my favorite high-end brand, that I had an amazing relationship with them from the early days of makeup. Although, as you know already, I do manage my makeup alone and have learnt throughout the years what suits me and what doesn’t through trial and error. I am still a newbie and can never be compared to professionals.

So, you can imagine my happiness, that I could get advice from the very best and get matched to the perfect colors, a matter I was having problems with.

Martine was such a babe and an amazing makeup artist that helped me get back to basics with makeup and explained everything I asked her about with such an ease. So through this post i would share with you the things that I have learnt that could maybe benefit you too.

So here are the steps that Martine went through with me :

1. SKINCARE: it is 100% important what base you are using beneath your makeup, so try to choose that wisely or you would suffer even with the bestest foundations. Since my Skin is still young, she told me that it is important to use Serums to maintain the moisture and matched me to the Lancome GENEFIQUE SERUM youth activator which is very light and absorbs quicker into the skin. After the serum, the VISIONNAIRE Creme was applied which has an amazing effect of pore minimizing, so it is perfect for obtaining that smooth skin and makes the application of the foundation a dream.

2. MAKEUP: for the Foundation, it was a known thing that I needed the lightest shade they had, but what I didn;t know is that they had a foundation which gives Radiance to the skin, which is exactly what I needed to boost my pale complexion. The TEINT MIRACLE foundation was the final choice and my shade was 01, this foundation is perfect for the daily use since it has a light to medium coverage, but it could be built to higher coverage if needed for night. With an SPF 15, it is all you need for you daily makeup.

My main concern was definitely the huge Under-EYE circles that I have been suffering from lately, and for which I haven’t found the solution. Martine was kind enough to explain the principle of concealing, “if you want to HIDE something, you use DARKER shade, and when you want to HIGHLIGHT something, you need to go a shade LIGHTER”, which was the opposite of what I was doing before. So she matched me to the EFFACERNES HIGH COVERAGE CONCEALER in the shade 02 ( a shade darker than my foundation) which hid my dark areas perfectly. And then she used the MIRACLE ELCAT in 02 for highlighting over the concealer to lighten the area and emphasizing the eyes. These 2 products made such a huge difference in my makeup and I use them daily now 😀 and couldn’t be happier.

After that a bronzer was applied on my whole face without contouring ( for a simple look) and a peach-colored blush on the apples of my cheeks in the shade SORBET CORAIL 03 . Martine encouraged me to use the coral shades instead of the pinks for my yellow toned skin because it compliments it more.

For the EYES, it was all about creating a natural look which is bold without using any black liner. That’s a real dilemma for me, since I do prefer using the eyeliner to open my eyes more. Martine did an amazing light makeup which was totally different from what I was used too, and she showed me a technique which I wear now on a daily basis ( I am going to do a full review on the eyeshadow palette next week so stay tuned) But before she applied the eyeshadows, she used an eyeshadow base, which could also be used as a base for your lipstick. The base was the BASE PAUPIERE AQUATIQUE 04 .

One of the things I was the most familiar with in the Lancome Beauty range was the Mascara. I have been using the HYPNOSE MASCARA for as long as I could remember, and it was my mom’s favorite too. So, I was eager to try the newest addition to the family, the DOLLS EYES. It applied beautifully, but I still prefer the original version to the newest one, since it gives more drama.

Lastly, for the lips, Martine went for a peachy-nude on my lips by using the L’ABSOLUE NUE 303 listick in combination with the 010 GLOSS INLOVE. and to my surprise I LOVED the gloss so much, which is weird for me, since i am totally lipstick gal. The Lancome Gloss isn’t stick, instead it’s very buttery and soft on the lips, and that was an AMAZING discovery.

Hope you enjoyed the post, and hopefully I could bring more of such posts to my blog 😀
