I chose to speak Arabic on Youtube!

In the predominant world of social media, blogs and youtube, we have all become wholly or partly involved in this vast, vast world. Some of us have just started yesterday and some of us were one of the first ones to delve into the unknown . Long gone were the days, when people thought that your “fashion” blog is a place where you sell clothes, or simply something similar to Facebook. It is such a different world for bloggers these days, since people and companies really acknowledge the power of writing and social influence (well at least in places other than Lebanon, but we are on a good track ladies and gentlemen, hopefully we could keep up with the world in a couple of years).

When I first got the courage to finally launch my blog, about 3 years ago, I knew that it’s going to be in english, since blogging is all about uniting the world and making it easy for all the readers from around the globe communicate and support each other. Since English isn’t my strongest language, I sometimes feel myself trying too hard to get the words out of my head, but since my blog is about fashion and beauty, I think you can excuse some of my Grammar mistakes. But it is actually OK to not have a perfectly written Fashion blog, since most of the people come for photography and style inspiration, and the writing is similar to a background, significant in its function, but quite dispensable. But that is only my opinion and my take on Fashion Blogging.

As my blog grew, I grew with it, and I needed to give more and so my youtube channel was created. Although I thought it would be similar to running my blog, filming and posting videos online is by far more nerve-recking and time consuming than I have ever imagined, but at the same time it is more giving and make you become closer to your readers. One of the main things I get asked about my Youtube channel is why I chose to speak arabic, but why shouldn’t I? I am Lebanese and my native language is arabic, so for me it makes a total sense, don’t you think? Plus, I think there are enough english-speaking channels in this world, so I will spare my addition to the equation.

The main reason I have started my youtube channel, was because I was tired of seeing other girls talking about products we don’t even have in our country, so I wanted to be that person who can tell you where to buy stuff that are easily accessible to each and every one living in Lebanon or at least in the Arab world. I am proud of being Lebanese and proud of speaking Arabic, so why should I change and start talking in English? I wouldn’t be able to be my true self, since I do not speak english with my close friends and family. My channel is the real me, the real Maya! A girl you may meet on the street or in your local Beauty Store ( I seem to be living there sometimes).

This is not a rant post, this is me, simply stating the facts, and encouraging others to build up a Lebanese Youtube community, so we can all grow together and show the world, who we truly are.

Love by the Beach

It feels like it was just yesterday, when we were celebrating the beginning of Summer, and here we are on the 1st of September feeling betrayed that somehow these 3 months slipped away right in front of us. We all know, that officially it is still Summer till the 21st of September, but the end of August would always bring out the blues (still from the School Days 😛 )

With the long summer days coming to an end, I am trying to take advantage of every single moment and spend it outside, enjoying the sea and the nature. This is the second post dedicated to the beautiful Batroun sea, and I simply cannot get enough of the surreal calmness and coolness that this place gives me. (Thank you @breadonbutter_ for making me welcome in your hometown once again)

One of the biggest advantages of the early Fall months is the cooler weather that we get, so I am all for the layering style as seen in the look I have chosen for Lynn’s birthday barbecue, last weekend (check Lynn’s blog: www.breadonbutter.com).

Matching The Grey

For the First Outfit that I have selected for my Collaboration with PROMOD ( read more about that HERE ) I decided to go for the Sporty Chic Look. We have seen on the runways a lot of sporty pieces rocked by many designers, so it is a really easy and awesome way of adding this style to your daily wear.

The Grey Skirt with the matching jacket is so easy to wear in so many ways, together or alone and can be perfect for your office days and on more casual weekends. For this look, I decided to style the ensemble with the most fun-print shirt and some booties, for an added oomph of class. If you want to make this look more casual, you could switch the booties for some loafers and of you go.

Furla Candy Bag Review

All girls can understand me when it comes to Bag obsession. And although I may not have all the capabilities to buy designer bags very often, I try to buy good quality leather pieces that would add the statement i want for my look. After my first designer bag, the CH one, I have added a new addition to my small but growing collection, this bag is the CANDY by Furla.
For some of you, this may be old news, since we have been seeing it a lot for the past couple of years, but I was never a true fan of the original Candy bag due to the whole rubber-y feeling which to me felt very childish. But this all changed when I received a Candy bag for my birthday.
I am by no means an expert in bags or anything, but this is just my honest opinion that I hope would help some of you who are considering in buying this bag.

Although I have been very skeptical about the Candy bag, this bag from the newest collection changed my mind totally. The addition of the leather parts, at the top and bottom of the bag, gives it a more modern and chic look than with the previous edition of only rubber. Plus it’s  pastel color-scheme is totally IN this season and merges perfectly with my Spring/Summer wardrobe.

It turned to be a perfect size for my daily use, not to big and not to small, and adds that needed oomph to any boring or casual outfit. I have been wearing this bag non-stop since I got it and can’t say enough good things about it, but there are a couple of  cons that are needed to be stated, so here they are:

My main concern about this bag is that it’s too damn heavy even when it is empty. I think that is due to the materials used and the overall shape of the bag, but still I think they could have made it a little bit lighter. In addition to it’s weight, the lack of a longer shoulder strap is a big dilemma to me too, since I can’t get the idea behind not having one. The weight of the bag would have been more bearable with a longer strap in my opinion. One other thing that bothers me about this Candy, is that it has only one compartment inside the bag, without even having a small zipper pocket for those small bibs and bobs that we all have.

All in all, this bag is an amazing piece in my wardrobe and I have never loved a bag more than this.

What do you think of this bag? are you loving it or so over it?
